Appointed one of the Gate waiters of Wallgate 1 October 1737. Admitted as a Freeholder of Wigan 6 October 1739 and fined at Court Lect of Wigan for allowing clay to lie in Hallgate 12 April 1740 (Wigan Court Lect Records). Held a messuage or burgage called Crosses in Hallgate and another called Rigby House and part of a tenement called Roughly both in Wallgate and lands called Banister Meadow and Mirey Lane Croft all in Wigan. Will dated 27 may 1740 and proved 1756 (Con: Ct. Chester).
