[8616]
Jean De Camp, a French army officer, who apparently came from the aristocratic family De Fleury (these were French Dukes). He fell out with his family and renounced his aristocratic family name, changing it to De Camp and later came to London with his own family (source: ĞiğA Treasure House, Ğ/iğAnn Blainey, from ĞiğBooks at Iowa Ğ/iğ53 (November 1990), University of Iowa Libraries).

The Duke most likely to be the ancestor of Adelaide De Camp would have been Jean Hercules de Rosset de Rocozels (1683-1748), Baron de Perpignan, Marquis de Rocozels and then Duke de Fleury from 1736. Adelaide's father, Jean de Fleury, who in rebellion against his family, changed his name to De Camp would have been a younger son of that family - if this story is indeed correct.
