Rodolfo Barton Thompson was montonero in the service of caudillo Nicolás de Piérola when he entered Lima on horseback on 15 Mar 1895 through the Cocharcas gate. Afterwards there was a bloody fight with the rival faction of General Andrés Avelino Cáceres. In this painting, which was made much later by Juan Lepiani, Rodolfo is said to be one of the men directly behind Piérola. Collection of the Pinacoteca de la Municipalidad de Lima.
