Sir Isaac Heard Pedigree of James Wild of 1809 establishes John Arthur's wife and ascendency as Joan Hyatt, daughter of Robert and grand-daugther of William.
Tim Powys-Lybbe quoting John Smyth's "Lives of the Berkelelys", 1883, Bristol, Arch Soc., gives as an alternative wife Margaret Butler, daughter of John Butler of Badmignton. The Visitation of Glocestershire supports this version to a certain extent, John Arther of Clopton, Somerset, married Margaret Butler, daughter of John Butler of Badmington and Elizabeth Langston, grand-daughter of William Buttler of Badmington and Margaret Pers (p.241)
The Visitation of Glocestershire presents another alternative, Joannes Hyed daughter of Roger Hyed, grand-daughter of John Hyed and Emma Cadull, daughter of Simon Cadull and Ebane Albaney, daughter of Ergstyan Albaney, grand-daughter of John Albancey of Kingesholme and his wife Ciceley (p.2).
